“Each year, BSW and MSW students get placed in a NGO for their internship. We come up with plans or the NGO gives us certain tasks that we need to follow . Every Friday and Saturday of the week are field work days . It is the best kind of reality check a social work student can get . Social work is all about gaining experiences and using your theory on the field . I learnt how I can convert my theoretical knowledge into the field . Working with different target groups help us understand them better . I had the privilege to work with child welfare committee in BSW 1 and this year I’m placed with YUVA who work with communities for their livelihood and social issues while focusing on youth groups “, says Ashna Ghosh who pursued her Bachelors in Social Work at Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai after her schooling in Kolkata.
