Mid-Day Meal Fundings

Mid-Day Meal (MDM) Scheme is being implemented by the Department of School Education and Literacy for imparting education and literacy throughout the country including in special areas. The objective of the MDM Scheme is to supplement the efforts of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) programme for universalization of education in elementary classes in the Government, Government aided, Special Training Centers and Madrsas/Maqtabs supported under SSA by providing nutritional support to the children studying in these classes. During 2014-15, Central share fund released in India under MDM Scheme was Rs. 1046521 lakhs. During 2015-16, Central share fund released in India under MDM Scheme was Rs. 913231 lakhs. Central share fund released in India under MDM Scheme was Rs. 857689 lakhs during 2016-17 (till 08.12.2016). The top 10 States/UTs in terms of Central share fund released under MDM Scheme during 2016-17 (till 08.12.2016) were- Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and Assam. The Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Bihar was Rs. 114257.02 lakhs during 2016-17. It accounted for 13.32% of the total Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in India. The Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in West Bengal was Rs. 106531.04 lakhs during 2016-17. It accounted for 12.42% of the total Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in India. The Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 101736.19 lakhs during 2016-17. It accounted for 11.86% of the total Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in India. The Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Maharashtra was Rs. 70686.68 lakhs during 2016-17. It accounted for 8.24% of the total Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in India. The Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 65741.79 lakhs during 2016-17. It accounted for 7.66% of the total Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in India. These top 5 states accounted for 53.51% of the total Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in India as a whole during 2016-17 (till 08.12.2016). Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Rajasthan was Rs. 45451.46 lakhs during 2016-17 (5.3% of All India). Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Karnataka was Rs. 43937.98 lakhs during 2016-17 (5.12% of All India). Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Orissa was Rs. 43841.08 lakhs during 2016-17 (5.11% of All India). Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Tamil Nadu was Rs. 42846.05 lakhs during 2016-17 (5% of All India). Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in Assam was Rs. 31495.6 lakhs during 2016-17 (3.67% of All India). The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 77.71% of the total Central share fund released under MDM Scheme in India as a whole during 2016-17 (till 08.12.2016).
