“The session is going to start with an introductory ice breaker. Then a few slides that explain how various social sector organisations function – small NGOs, Public Private Partnership, Large CSR funded big organisations. Following this we will move into the example of child protection sector and use that to explain what vulnerability means and the causal factors. We will use a case study here, for practical understanding. Post this we will have an activity to understand caste, and how it plays a role in the field. We then delve into experience sharing about working in the field – my experience as a student and then as a professional. I will then end with the discussion around Masters and further course of action like NET/JRF. Then we will take queries.”

Joshita, is a TISS pass-out from the 2017-19 batch. She studied M.A. in Social work with Children and Families. She is currently working on Child Protection in Bihar. Her field experiences have been concentrated in institutionalisation of children and women, where she has worked on standards of care inside such institutions as well as the systemic changes needed. This is what she’s also doing professionally in Bihar right now, working with the government and non government stakeholders to bring sustainable changes. She has worked with pioneer child rights organisations like Pratham, Make A difference and RAHI as a student.
