UNICEF estimates that there are 433 million children in India (population under 18). Here are few highlights from our alumni at Catalyst who are professionally transforming the society to a safer and happier place for children.
Seewangi Mukhia is working with Poorna Learning Centre, an alternative school as an Elemental School Teacher working with children, teaching them English, social sciences, social emotional learning and reading comprehension skills.
While pursuing Bachelors in Education at Loreto College Kolkata, Seewangi joined the Catalyst Capacity Building Training to prepare for entrances and interviews of Masters Programmes in Social Sciences. She was selected for M.A. Education at Azim Premji University, Banglore.
Aparajita Chatterjee manages the project of The Missing Awareness and Safety School program (MASSp) of ‘MISSING‘ first-of-its-kind safety awareness program that is designed to address the personal safety and empowerment needs of adolescents.
While pursuing Bachelors in Education at Loreto College Kolkata, Aparajita joined the Catalyst Capacity Building Training to prepare for entrances and interviews of Masters Programmes in Social Sciences. She was selected for M.A. Education at Azim Premji University, Banglore.
Avik Chakraborty is a Teach For India Fellow. “The Teach For India Fellowship is an highly selective (less than 7% selection rate) and prestigious programme for India’s brightest and most promising individuals, from the nation’s best universities and workplaces, to to work in some of the nation’s most under-resourced schools. Through this experience of working with key education stakeholders like students, principals and parents, Fellows get exposed to the grassroot realities of India’s education system.
I am placed in an under resourced minority school in Park Street, Kolkata and my role is to create a holistic learning experience by designing an effective pedagogy focussed on the learning outcomes of elementary children.”, says Avik
While pursuing Bachelors of Arts at University of Kolkata Avik joined the Catalyst Capacity Building Training to prepare for entrances and interviews of Masters Programmes in Social Sciences. He was selected for the coveted Teach For India Fellowship.
Like Seewangi, Aparajita and Avik since 2011, students and working professionals have been able to successfully craft a career with Bachelors and Masters programmes offered by TISS, Azim Premji University, TERI, XIM, IIT, Nirmala Niketan, NLSIU, Sciences Po, London School of Economics and Political Science, Symbiosis, IIMC, ACJ, XIC, JNU, Ambedkar University et al with capacity building training for development sector at Catalyst.
