Catalyst alumni Shourjya Deb promoted to Senior Researcher at SIPRI

Shourjya Deb from the Catalyst Class of 2013 has been promoted to Senior Researcher at SIPRI. Shourjya is a developmental sector professional skilled in research, monitoring, and evaluation. His interests include perception research, the theory of change, research design, survey design, data analytics, and visualization. At SIPRI, Shourjya researches on their Sahel and West Africa Programme by analysing key conflict, security, governance and conflict prevention issues affecting the region. The Programme’s research seeks to contribute to a better understanding of local perceptions and the needs and priorities of local populations to inform policymakers and practitioners.

Shourjya joined Catalyst to prepare for a career in the social sector while pursuing Bachelors in Comparative Literature. He was selected for Masters in Social Work with Children and Family at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. After completing Masters, Shourjya pursued a MS – PhD integrated programme at Rutgers University, Camden on Public Affairs. He was hired by SIPRI as a researcher.

SIPRI – Stockholm International Peace Research Institute is an independent international institute dedicated to research into conflict, armaments, arms control and disarmament. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public. Based in Stockholm, SIPRI is regularly ranked among the most respected think tanks worldwide.
