“We cross hundreds of people when we commute through the roads every single day. Each of these people have their own stories of problems, crisis, deprivation, denial and are thereby suffering which nobody has time to hear in their busy lives. It is for these powerless and voiceless people that a medium like journalism exists. People in the remotest parts of the country or the most prominent urban centres, women or lower castes being deprived, the downtrodden being oppressed, all have their own plight to narrate. A hunger for such stories of powerless people and an ever inquisitive nature makes my fervour for journalism stronger every passing day. I know it’s easier said than done but ‘if I never try, I’ll never know…”
Kanjyik Ghosh joined Catalyst during the Covid-19 lockdown to prepare for a career in the Social Sector. He was selected for the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Journalism at Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. He had pursued a Bachelors in Mass Communication and Videography from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Kanjyik is currently working as a full time correspondent with Reuters News Agency in Bengaluru, India.
Bloomberg and the Asian College of Journalism (ACJ) in Chennai have collaborated to offer a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Journalism program. The program is designed for students who wish to specialize in business journalism and gain expertise in covering financial and business news.
The curriculum of the program covers a wide range of topics such as business reporting, financial journalism, data journalism, multimedia journalism, ethics, and media law. The program is led by experienced journalists and faculty members from Bloomberg and ACJ, who provide a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge to the students.
As a part of the program, students get the opportunity to learn from Bloomberg’s world-class business newsroom and also work on projects and assignments that are designed in collaboration with Bloomberg. The program also includes a mandatory internship component where students get to work with leading media organizations and news outlets, gaining practical experience in business journalism.
Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Journalism from ACJ and also get the opportunity to be considered for employment by Bloomberg or other leading media organizations.
Overall, the Bloomberg-ACJ Postgraduate Diploma in Business Journalism program provides students with a unique and enriching learning experience, preparing them for a successful career in business journalism.
