Shreya Karmakar a sustainability strategist and environmental professional with over 3 years of experience in the domains of natural resources governance, climate change, clean energy access, disaster mitigation and urban sustainability in research, project management, advocacy, fundraising and strategic partnerships has been hired as an Associate Consultant – Climate Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) at PwC India
“In order to ace a career in DRR, it is essential to comprehend the emerging risks, vulnerabilities, and exposures supported by knowledge of evolving planning and development patterns. New employment opportunities in DRR can range from reducing vulnerabilities through better infrastructure planning, early warning systems and improved access to climate finances as well as strengthening resilience and facilitating climate adaptation across all sectors”, says Shreya.
While pursuing Bachelors in Geography at Loreto College Kolkata, Shreya joined the Catalyst Capacity Building Training to prepare for entrances and interviews of Masters Programmes in Social Sciences. She was selected for M.A. Natural Resource and Governance at Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
“With a masters in Natural Resource and Governance from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad, my interests lie in sustainable development projects by conceptualising just, equitable, innovative and scalable development solutions with multiple SDG imperatives.”
